Is EFT kosher? As an Orthodox Jew it is important to me that EFT falls within the boundaries of Jewish law, halacha. Years ago I phoned Rabbi Rephoel Szmerla of Lakewood, NJ, to ask if EFT is "kosher". Rabbi Szmerla assured me that it is, and advised me to continue practicing EFT. In 2017, Rabbi Szmerla wrote a sefer (book) entitled Alternative Medicine in Halacha in which he says the following:
"Far from being adaptations of heretical practices, energy-related therapies are based on the recognition of a universal energy - created by Hashem [G-d] - that provides all creatures with their energetic sustenance. This understanding implies that the quest for healing should include the search for methods to correct imbalances in the body's energetic system. This concept is reflected in the prayer for the sick: 'May You send a complete recovery to the nefesh [soul] and body of.....'. Chazal [Jewish Sages] understood that our physical health depends on a balanced flow of energy from the nefesh and that a prayer for a full recovery must include a request for the healing of the nefesh as well."
